R888 is the next generation RA1, so expecte it to be very similar.

I need to buy a new set of tires for VIR in Sept and have trying to find out more info about these R-888s (closer to RA-1s) and also the BFG R-1s (closer to the R6s) here and on other boards. It sounds like the R888 is only slightly faster than the RA-1 from what I have read (not much), and heavy....although I'm not sure how much heavier than the RA-1.
Not much info on the BFGs either, but the most I have seen is on bimmerforums and a few sware they are .5 to 1.0 second than the R6.
I realize lap time differences w/ the same car, track and driver can vary greatly depending on track/weather conditions, but you have to go by something.
With a budget in mind I would be smart to buy the R888, w/ lap times and handling (stiff sidewall) in mind I will probably wind up w/ the BFGs....although besides the new tread pattern for the R888, the sidewalls are supposed to be stiffer than the RA-1s, which are mushy in comparison to the R6.
Hoping to read more re-world evals on these tires before I buy in a few weeks.

Ran them on my 997s at Pocono.
On one of the frist sessions on the track T888s felt greasy by the end of a session. However, I'm not sure if that was due to low pressures or then being new. The rest of the session through the day (at approx 36psi hot) they felt great.
I've run PSCs for the last 4 years, albeit on a different car. While T888s do not have the ultimate grip of PSCs, they are much more progressive in the loss of grip. I felt more comfortable staying at the limit...and sometimes beyond on T888. Ultimately, you may even be faster on t888s because of this.
Overall, I'm couldn't be happier with the tires. The only downsides are weight (6lb heavier then PSCs per tire) and maybe a little slower. I'm willing to bet that a very good driver can lap at 1sec per track mile faster on PSCs.

Hello
I use the R888 on a 964 c2 only for races.
And i am very very enjoy.
In France, the R888 is the less expansive.
The R888 is very safety, very progressive.
Less powerful than Michelin Pilot Sport CUP or a Pirelli P0 Corsa BUT very very well for safety.
