Mark in the front...what a surprise.

I'm going to try to get down today to see some of the guys between my son's baseball games.

Good luck,

Rick

Also of note was the return of Phil Blackstone in his RSCS. Car looks absolutely perfect.

The F/E battle was great to watch. Bumper to bumper until the restart on Saturday and then again on Sunday until the contact. I left before the enduro, anyone know what happened?

Doug Crossman took the overall and class win edging out Jim Child by only a couple seconds. They were doing 1:20-1:21's all the way to the end. Tim Costa had the early lead but got held up as he tried to leave the pits for his mandatory stop. He grabbed a Workers Choice, though, so he looked pretty pleased as the weekend wrapped up.

While I am sure they appreciate the attention.
Could be that they would prefer this not be posted on the net...?

Thanks, Jim. I had a great time and was happy to be hanging with some of the other faster guys, at least for a little while. I did my first DE there six years ago but hadn't been there since. I really didn't remember any of the track, so it was like starting all over again. I spent a good bit of the weekend looking at Tim Costa's rear bumper and had some good runs on him but decided that his blue paint would clash with my polar silver in every sense of the word. Throughout the weekend, the racing was very clean and close.

We were lucky enough to have sublime weather with highs in the lower '80's and a bit of a breeze. Still, it was hot enough in the car that I tried my cool shirt for the first time. Call me a wimp, but that thing was thermal nirvana while I was sitting on the grid waiting for the sessions to start. I also think it really helped with my overall concentration as the races wore on.

I also had tire issues in two of the races. I lost air in my LR tire in the first sprint, resulting in a shredded tire, and ended up watching the end of the race, as well as the next race (to stay on schedule, race officials elected to not flat bed me out), with the corner workers in T7. I then put on a set of rear S04's with only six heat cycles on for the warm up, second sprint and the enduro but ended up cording the LR towards the end of the enduro, resulting in increased lap times and some lurid slides. I checked the rim for leaks or cracks but couldn't find any.

It was good to finally meet Eric P. aka TheOtherEric and Colin Mazzola aka 38D, as well as a few other 'Listers. Thanks for the help, guys, and thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers who allowed us to race.

Thanks for the concern Glen. While you're absolutely right, in principle, it's pretty easy to see the results and find which two cars DNF'd with the same number of laps.

OVR put on a great event, as usual, and the weather steward was outstanding! I still think they should try to get a fall date in the future as Indiana in July can be brutal! When I realized last week that making the race was even a possibility, (we moved out of our St. Louis house last Wednesday), I had an AC unit installed on the trailer.

Had the chance to meet Colin (38D) too. He's a great addition to the national race staff. Mark Lee helped me keep the contents of the trailer in place for the drive home too. (Thanks Mark!)

Colin,

Nice to meet you and put a face on your screen name.

Pace car duty was a little more exciting than I had anticipated. Maybe next time the steward will give a little more lead-time to roll up to speed as he inserts me into traffic under a double-yellow

The second pic is what happens when we have to jump into traffic just past the start-finish line!

Anyway, I had a blast all three days.
