I enjoy instructing more at a DE than doing the DE at this point.

As far as the speed is concerned is say:

Just a bit below the speed of light......

That usually shuts them up in a humorous way.....

I always get the "look" (are you an idiot look) when my answers are, no it's not racing and no it's not timed. No I don't win anything and no I don't know what are my times around the track. How do I know if I did better then the last lap, I don't know but it sure is fun!!

The purpose of DE is to build your frustration level to such a fevered pitch that you have no choice but to go club racing. Come on in Paolo, the water is warm.

I once took a relative newbie out in my RS (which is calibrated in KM's) and had to zip over very quickly later when I heard him telling people "I can't believe we were doing over 200mph through the esses" and whisper that's 200KPH before every 964 owner in the paddock started ripping my engine cover off.

Purpose of DE is to teach you the flags before you go race.

Once you've seen them all, and gotten the black flag directed at you several times (sometimes in the same day), you go race.

Brian
where the first lesson you learn is to assume that the black flag was for the other guy

For me it is:

Have fun.
Improve driving skills.
Beer drinking and Lie telling.
Pass TR6.
Have fun.

Every time I pull out of the pit and on to the track I grin and think to myself, "I can't believe I'm doing this".

Yeah, but you really shouldn't do that in the paddock...
