Default IROC tail

I have a 86 Carrera F class racer. It is a little overweight. What is the conventional wisdom on fiberglass IROC whale tails (wider than stock)?

Are they much lighter than stock tail with the rubber lip?
Are they better at reducing lift? I drive BIR quite a bit with two high speed turns.

My fiberglass IROC tail/decklid combo from AIR is just a bit lighter than just the metal decklid alone.

Cheers,

Jeff

I think a stock Carrera stye tail including the lid is close to 45lbs. An all fiberglass early turbo (1976) tail is about 25 lbs. I would imagine that the IROC tail is a bit heavier, but no were near that of the stock lid with a Carrera tail.

this is a link to lenghty thread on tails. You may find it useful as it discussed weight, lift, downforce, and compliance issues.
