Roofing nail in my street tire that will also see track use for DE?

So my theory is that it isn't the hole that causes the problem (so long as it is a clean nail hole and patched properly from the inside), but rather running the tyre low on air.
It is the cord integrity that is important. If you spot or hear a rivit-nail hole etc (know the history) patching is no problem. If it has been run significantly low for any distance at all it is JUNK!
Similarly people freak out when I go at a side wall slice with my pocket knife or a screw driver but what I'm doing is holding back the flap of rubber to see the cord. If the top cord stopped the cut "run it' if the sidewall is cut through the top cord junk it.
