Well, if it costs $100K in order to get the neighbors to shut up, I'm in.

I think this is real. A guy I ski with told me his brother in law is an investor, and that the deal has been in the works for about a year. Time will tell, but dont be surprised if its legit.

How ironic. New York city slickers buy up the properties around LRP starting a decade or so ago and immediately start complaining about the noise. I wonder where the target market for "Club Members" will be?

Having raced at Riverside in its day, I find it difficult to compare it to Lime Rock.

Wow! The Riverside website rushed back memories.

My first experience to racing, ever, was the 1976 NASCAR race at Riverside. My uncle was friends with one of the Wood Brothers and we were invited to go. I was 12. I grew up in Missouri so this was heaven. Like most 'significant emotional events,' I remember everything about that day; from getting to the track, to standing on the bridge watching Richard Petty pass Cale Yarbuough on the straight, or watching Cale go straight through the esses to catch David Pearson. Damn, those things were loud. And I loved every second of it. Heck, I'm getting goose bumbs just thinking about it! Pearson won the race and I got to go get cokes for the crew. Man, I was king that day. I took 4 rolls of "110 instamatic" film!

Thanks for the reminder of when I first got bitten. Who was it that said "It's only slightly more addicting than cocaine?"

Sorry to hijack the thread. I just had to share after that look at the old track.

50 years and out...How fitting...I for one will NOT miss it.......But if they do a bouncey, bounce as part of the renovation, I might have to reconsider.(or maybe just a few more bumps around Big Bend).

I've heard that the current owners also own quite a bit of land around the park and had drawn up plans to significantly increase the size of the track quite a while ago.

Just think how much they'd charge if you could drive on Sundays!

A while ago indeed...Here is a map of the original layout of Lime Rock. You can see where Big Bend simply became a shortcut between two other planned areas of the track.

There are some old aerial photos showing parts of that original layout already bulldozed.

Anyway, you might be talking about something different, but this still fascinates me when I see it!

Official announcement here - http://www.americanlemans.com
Given that I can only deal with lime rock for a couple of DE's a year I think I'll pass on the 60 day opportunity.

They've even set up a web site already www.limerockclub.com
If they are pulling 60 days off the available dates does this mean no more DE's up there anymore?

If it gets the track improved and we still can have our Club Race and DE's there I wish him great success!

I am trying to figure out if the $100k entitles you to an equity stake.. Doubt it.. What does this mean to the SCCA plan for Palmermotorsports park?

Absolutely it the track gets improved but my concern is if they are going to let clubs back for D.E.'s - there is no word about that on their web site.
