Default Does anyone know the total frontal area of a 911 or 930?

Engineers:

Has anyone ever calculated or measured the frontal area of a 911/930?

Just wondering before I waste time taking my own measurements....

I'm need the data for some calculations me and my friend Eric are doing...

If noone has the numbers, can anyone tell me the best way they'd go about getting the measurements???

I think I found what I needed...
C2 911 is 19.15 sq ft.

I was surprised to see/read that a 997 GT3 Cup has a Cd of 0.29.... That's pretty incredible...
I'm guessing mine is in the .38-.39 based on other stats I found for 911s/930s...

Cd of turbo bodied cars are closer to 0.414

B series=0.408
F series=0.397 (Carrera RS)

993=0.33
964=0.32
996=0.281
935=0.43

Your car with a bi-plane wing should have a higher Cd than a regular turbo bodied car. I have the frontal areas somewhere..Ill have to root around and find that info

Thanks man. If you can get that frontal area, I'd appreciate it...

Thanks!

Brian

911/930: CD: 0.39, Area: 20.02 -- This is with stock wheels 245-45 x 16.

With the rear spolier that you have, expect another 0.1 to 0.2 increase in CD depending on the angle set (0-9 degrees), so you would be at CD= 0.40-0.41.

The 930's overall CDxA is equal to 7.81 whereas the new GT3 is CD: 0.29 and A: 21.96 => CDxA: 6.37, an improvement of close to 20% in drag for the newer car. That translates to a difference of 30 BHP in drag at 150mph between both cars..

Only if you can acurately measure the drag on your car.
