Oh, and because the White group's session immediately prior to the practice starts/practice race was run in a deluge, most of the White group gridded BEHIND the Red group. There's nothing like a bunch of Cup Cars blazing past on all sides. You learn to hold to your line very quickly!

All that said, it WAS lots of fun. Just finished another deluge here at the track. I sure hope tomorrow's weather is better!

So I made it! First club race, started and finished clean in both sprints. 17th overall and 5th in class in the first race, but I did not pick up timing/scoring sheets for the second sprint. Steven Bade (#736 - White 82 Euro SC) and I were on each other's tails pretty much the whole race for both sprints. Steven bested me in the first race, and I managed to find a place to turn in underneath him in the second and get ahead.

DE's will never be the same!

Congrats to Youri Bebic and Doug Molny for 1st and 2nd in G. And, as usual Jim Buckley (1st) and Bryan Henderson (2nd) smoked the field with their cars.

Have not heard any updates on the driver of the red RSA that was hit towards the end of the second White sprint race. Very bad accident coming out of Big Bend. Sure hope the driver is OK.

Thanks to all who helped/encouraged me up and including this weekend. Glen Gatlin was a fantastic mentor and coach. Jay Walker, George Abdalla, Todd Opperman and his crew, Sam Moultrie, Barry Moore, Lee Wilkins, Veloce Raptor - it's a very long list of folks and I know I've forgotten some. To all of you - my hearfelt thanks!

Toby, congrats on the first race! Here's a few shots for the scrap book! Yours is still one of my favorite cars to photograph. Love the color!

ps. I've got the full resolution photos I'd be happy to send you.

Damn, I love that 3.1 course.

Toby, Steve Bade is a friend of mine. In fact, I bought my trailer from him. I am glad you guys had fun!

Greg,

Was that your RS sitting by the front gate for sale? If so could you send me some details?

THanks

Jay, thanks. How did you guys end up on Monday? Did you get the off-road beast back in working order? I was trying to make it out but had other commitments.

Yeah, I kinda like it too. That downhill section in the new portion of the track is a hoot!

Steve and I were really going at it. He got me first time out, and I was able to get it back in the mini-sprint. There hasn't been this much fun in a car since I was 16 and drag racing in San Antonio! Thanks for all your pointers and encouragement.

Toby, now that you have broken your cherry, let's ride together at the next Maverick event, me in your right seat & you in mine. Now is when the REAL learning starts!

Your friend,

Dave

Congrats Toby, you looked great out there. You had one of the better battles in the red group. I enjoyed watching it.

I'm just so thankful the weather held out for last two days.........

Hey Toby, nice race. You and Steve had a great start for the sprint race; I felt like my emergency brake was on or something. I enjoyed racing with you; very tight clean racing.
Note to self: Do not leave the inside open.....

How did you guys end up on Monday?
Chris,
Monday went well. Weather held & car was working other then an occasional sticking throttle during the enduro I managed a first overall/first in class so things turned around
