How much has your suspension been upgraded? I drove my 944 NA on S-03s with the suspension completely stock and found that a very easy to drive combination. I could take corners hard enough to wake the tires up but not hard enough to exceed their limits. Now that the car has a much tighter suspension I think that my Victoracers are a better match and that it would be easy to over-drive even the best street tires.

I have a set of Dunlop SSR tires that were marketed as an R-compound, but near as I can tell they are closer to a good street tire. At $100 / tire, who cares what it is?!
However, if great lap times are the goal, the Dunlops aren't the tire of choice.
