As far as spelling, I thought Bimmer was a car, and Beamer was a motorcycle. Apologies for the thread jack.

in the fatherland, a beamer is a projector (think powerpoint presentation), and the suitcase it lives in is called the Beamer Wheelie, which always confuses visitors.

bimmers is a casual term for male swimming attire, a beamer can be the vertical smile exhibited by certain members of the construction industry when bending over in their work attire.
there are other uses of the term, but not suitable for a family friendly site.

Vitesse: vih-TESS
Pagid: PADGE-id
Lamborghini: lahm-bore-JHEE-nee

I love it when people say jag-YOU-are and JAG-wire, it's like misguided obnoxiousness.

I can do this all day.

Hi Mark
You sure had me confused with that original post.
Thanks for correcting it.

I thought Beamer, pronounced beemer, was in reverence to the little, old Sunbeam cars. Tiny car from the 60s (?) with a V8.

Although, majority opinion probably rules.

I got tired of trying to pronounce Fikse right. I just sold them all and got BBS.

Truth there... But then you have to be able to answer people that ask "Hey, what's BBS stand for?!?"

Well, this has been a fun read.

The correct pronunciation is "FIX-SEE"
