Default Laptimer device

Hi there,

need some advice. I am a member of the Porsche Club in Poland :-). Around every quarter we meet on tracks and check who's the fastest. Recently we have decided that the Club should probably finally invest into the laptimer device so that we can measure the results precisely (sometimes the time differences are small so manual measurement is questionable).

Could you recommend a laptimer device for Club usage ?

there are around 40 of us at each meeting, usually going one by one on a track or slalom. Usually it takes around 2-3 min to go thru the slalom, so the times are not very long. we usually take 3-5 test drives and pick the best time.

Hi Jacek,

We've been talking about such devices here quite a bit lately. There are many brands and styles to choose from. I favor the GPS based, but that may be a problem in your area. There are many good transponder / tripod based systems.

I know others with more experience will reply - but if you use the search function and look for "lap timers" I think you will find much information that will be helpful.

Also, try contacting PCA - there may be somebody within the administration of our club that can help guide you - perhaps even arrange a loan of a system. This would be a fantastic international Porsche Club opportunity.
