Default Steel lugs, loosen?

Does anyone have any evidence of, or experience with, steel lug nuts tending to loosen through use more than alloy lugs?

In my experience, it's been just the opposite.

Just the opposite for me as well...I'll never use alloy lugs again. Too much trouble for a track/race car where the wheels/tires are removed with impact guns multiple times a day.

Same here, alloys loosen up, steel don't.

Actually, I had steel loosen up on me once. I did check them that day before the event. It only happened that once and I can't explain why it happened.

Mine have gotten loose, but only when I run my BBS wheels with the magnesium centers. I can't explain why, but they always move a little when I re-torque them the next day.

I have the exact same experience as Larry with my BBS magnesium wheel. Either way, it is a good habit to check them often.
