Default 996 LSD Ratio?

On my 996 GT3 the LSD is gone and I am trying to decide on what LSD to replace or repair it with.

The choices seem to be replace the stock clutch plates with cup parts or go with the 04 Cup 40/60 ratio LSD, I think the 05 have a little more lock up and then there is the Guard or I have also read the RSR LSD might work?

What would be the ideal LSD & ratio for mostly track use?

This is somewhat of a personal choice and also has to do with your driving skill and the tracks you run.

Having said all that I put in a 50/80 Gaurds unit in my 944 S2 over the Winter and couldn't be happier. It took me a run session or 2 to get use to it but it allows me to brake deeper into the corner and get on the throttle much earlier in the corner without fear of spinning the inside rear tire.

BTW my car is strictly for track use.

I am running the cup unit with the ramps? backwards as a 60/40. Seems to be working very well. Fixed all of my problems with getting the power down and keeps the tail relatively comfy during trail braking.

What will work with the street GT3 is the Porsche GT3 Cup 2003-05 and the RSR LSD (back order three weeks)
plus the Guard LSD.

Does anyone know the difference between them?

I have a nearly new Porsche Motorsport Diff for the Seqeuntial GT3 RSR - latest version. Its supposed to fit everything from G50/50 on up.

If interested I would have Brian Copans rebuild it before selling as it has 3 races on it....

I am interested, but I need to know the difference between each choice and what will work with my application on R Tires?

I am hoping that someone knows the difference betweeen 03/05 Cup? RSR? Guard LSD?

Brian is on the road most of the time, so it will be difficult to get him to do work know.

You may want to call Paul Gaurd and talk to him. He was very helpful in helping me decide on the best ratios for my applications and I doubt there are many people more knowledgable than him. My understqanding is that they supply LSD's to some of the top Porsche teams (Flying Lizzards??)

Guard is also on back order... 40/60 dual purpose safe choice and the better track choice is the 50/80 but it's a depends on the street.

I am going back and forth on this one, it also seems that you can rebuild the stock unit.

Anyone with experience here would be great.
