Pocono is good to shake down your car before going to a real road course like The Glen. I have 20 days scheduled up there this year : ) Also there are other non Porsche only groups like www.trackmasters.com Very good group of people. I highly recommend them.

JC in NY.. Now that was cool.
We just got back from 2 days at pocono. Close to NYC. Watkins Glen is just about everybody's favorite track. Limerock is great as well. Most of us travel to what ever tracks are hosting an event.
I instruct for a multitude of clubs and I would suggest joining as many as you can run with ie:
PCA, BMWCCA, NASA. PDA.
Welcome to NY

back yard? its on my street! E57... i'd hate to see your wheel refurb budget.... ;-)
just to add a HUGE thanks to the additional posters with information. the biggest concern with moving was leaving the great uk trackday 'scene' and my cars behind. very releived to see a healthy desire to use these cars as god intended over the pond. really look forward to meeting some of you this summer. now i just need a union jack for the roof, dukes of hazard style, so you know who i am.... ;-)

francis,
Although Arwinn is one of our best members, I personally can't recommend you seek service from Formula Motorsports. I've had a number of painful (aka $$) encounters with the owner surrounding my first p-car (aka rookie) since July, 2006. The grossest: I had him do a 40,000 mile tune up in August, which included a valve job. 3 months ago, a new mechanic discovered severe valve cover leaking and no valve clearance gaps as a result of the valve job. There were other issues where i was grossly overcharged for very easy fixes as well as a mandatory NY State inspection. I reported him to the state and they are investigating. I liked the owner and he has a great Porsche story of his own (Professional Driver, & Engineer) but overall I felt like I was treated like a punk. There are more reputable ones around that are mentioned here.

I use Taso from TKX Performance (http://www.tkxperformance.com), but they are a little further from the city in Huntington, LI.
