Best value track wheels?

CCW's, but the $1800 days are gone. Expect to pay about $2100 now which I still think is a great deal. Light, strong, and good looking. Funny thing but the black centers are $50 more than polished... but a can of flat black Rustoleum is all the maintenance they need!

My suggestion -- inquire at dealers about 'take offs.' These are the wheels that come with cars, but the new owner wants to upgrade to bigger, prettier wheels. So the stock wheels sit in their inventory taking up space and collecting dust.
Another option is to buy used from folks who have upgraded their wheels after owning the car. Porsche club swap meets are great for this, and check in Panorama or your local PCA / POC newsrag. I don't know how much later wheels go for, but for the extra wheels I bought for my 944, I've spent on average, about $100.00 per wheel -- all were Porsche original wheels.
One more note: I have heard some war stories about Porsche "knock-off" look-alike wheels - either go with original Porsche wheels, or a reputable company like CCW or BBS.
My $0.42,
-Z-man.

We are ordering a couple of sets. I have seen them in person and they look like a nice quality wheel.
Here is a thread on Pelican about them:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...hreadid=324102
from the thread:
A few months ago, I posted that I will eventually give some comparison weights between the Kodiaks and CCWs. They are both 8.5 & 10s by 17 and using 235/40 275/40 Toyo RA1 tires. I used 24# & 29# for the tire weight asper Toyo specs.
The CCW are 19.66# and 20.74# front and rear.
The Kodiaks are 15.19 and 16.25 respectively
The differences are 4.47 and 4.49 almost 4.5#s per wheel... Difference could be due to different wheel style.

Used or take-off OEM are always a good value, though they will be heavy. Shops like CCWheel have very good reputations, but the wheels might be limited in some ways (design, lack of a center cap, etc.). The higher end you go, the less value you might see unless features and weight are priorities. Forgeline and Fikse for example make great wheels, are modular so you can easily repair, are very light, and have various versions with and without center caps depending on if you want to street them as well as track them. I just ordered a set of Fikse Profil 13s over a set of Forgelines because I liked the clean joint of the modular wheel vs. having dozens of bolts (hard to keep clean and I will street these between DEs that are close together). Then there's Champion, Kinessis, etc.
$2100 for basic CCW, $2600 for the C14 (if the others won't fit your model) and that can go right up to $4-5k for the others. It feels to me like the Fikse and Forgelines are DE / Track guy oriented...
