Is 5W-30 Oil OK for the Track (Cold Weather)?
I'm taking my car to Lime Rock at the end of the month for a DE event with PDA. I'm currently running 5W-30 oil and it looks like the high temp for the day will be around 50F. Am I OK with this set up, or should I change the oil? This is for a 91 Carrera 4. Thanks!

I would have thought that 15W-50 would be fine at that temperature, but 5W-40 or 0W-40 is also an approved viscosity isn't it?
Yes, I know, another oil viscosity rennlist discussion...time to hide in the bunker and wait for it ot end.

I've run 15W-50 at LRP in March, it's a bit 'thick' during crank but once you're up to temp and running on track, it's fine.
FWIW, I run 15W-40W in my wife's Excursion Powerstroke this time of year and it's OK.

It's been discussed on the 911 boards of Pelican and Rennlist with a lot of debate.

How are we supposed to tell if the 'new M1 15W-50' is the same as the 'old'?
