I race in Arizona in 100F temps a few times a year and 80F+ temps a good part of the year. I found that a balaclava works wonder to keep a helmet fresh. The downside is that with balaclava you may need a slightly larger helmet to not be too tight. I use double lined sparco nomex balaclava. It has one larg eye port and since I hate breathing through it I pull the eyeport down below my mouth.
