Question BBS RS..?

Posted on the tire/wheel forum also.

What type of socket is needed for the fasteners that hold the center in the wheel. There are about 4 dozen of them around the inner lip. Want to remove them to refinish and also need any tips on the removal. These I believe are 3pc. but recently discovered they may be 2pc...? BBS RS Mid 80's honeycomb style w/huge center cap. I never have seen a starpoint on an external bolt before so question if/what socket I need.

Sounds like you need a female torx bit...nothing too out of the ordinary.

Some wheel bolts have either 6 or 12 point heads (I don't remember which) that a normal socket fits. Check that before springing for torques sockets.

If they're the standard ones that are on their racing wheels, you can just use a standard 12 point point socket which you can get from any Sears hardware. ...I forget the size off the top of my head. Torque spec I believe is 100-120 inch pounds. Maybe someone else can confirm.

I just took a set of the racing wheels and they were 8mm 12 points.

Torque specifications are 100-120 inch pounds, you sir are correct JoeMag.
Same goes for the 8mm 12 point.
Just confirming what's already posted.

Dallas,

I like to start at the valve stem and then go 180 degrees across and snug them to 100 all the way around. And like everything else, check your work and increase the torque wrecnh to 120 on the final pass.

Are you making it down to Sebring?
