Cool Anyone remember which NASCAR drivers were in Porsches for the ROLEX 24?

I want to see if any of them turns into the infield just after the start on Sunday.

Think Kyle Petty was with Orbit Racing again, and they finished decently in class. There were other NASCAR guys out there, too--maybe others can recall.

Well, there were a bunch of drivers turning into the infield. ...grass!

From memory, NASCAR drivers included...
Kyle Petty - #43 Porsche (Orbit)
Tony Stewart - #2 Crawford-Judd (Crawford)
Kevin Harvick - #90? Chevy Corvette (Flis?)
Derrick Cope - #33? Ferrari 360 (Ferrari of WA?)

Off the top of my head, I can't recall any others.

Notably, Stewart was 16 seconds off the time of Jan Lammers in the Crawford-Judd during the Test Days sessions in January. Lammers, one of the dozen (or so) fastest sportscar racers in the business, spent a lot of time tutoring Stewart. By race day, Stewart was lapping within 3 seconds of Lammers. ...not great, but not bad considering Stewart's lack of sportscar/prototype racing experience.

There were 6 NASCAR racers in the 24hrs.
Kevin Harvick, Wally Dalenbach, Tony Stewart, Kyle Petty, Derrick Cope, and I think there is one other that I can't remember.

Also Robby Gordon, if you count him as a NASCAR driver.

thanks guys....

and not one of them boys forgot and dove into FIA turn 1, but spent the entire day doing their turning on the banking -- at least the part I saw.

Careful Greg,

He is my favorite driver of any discipline and he has his best opportunity this year in one of RCR cars for the season. I forgot he was racing in the 24 hrs... Went from Karts to Desert Racing to CART then NASCAR. Very likable guy - and he likes to party <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" />

Also, Wally only drives NASCAR from the tv booth anymore.

Geez, how could I forget Robby Gordon?! He was 2nd overall in the factory Riley & Scott entry.

Tony Stewart seems to be able to irritate most of the NASCAR traditionalists and drive almost anything quite well & have some fun - his generation's AJ?

He also did IMSA between Desert and CART. Drove a Roush Cougar, IIRC.

I agree he can drive anything but what seperates him from AJ Foyt and Mario are results. He just doesn't seem to get to the podiums that often.
