Happiness is seeing triple digits in the Kink at Road America and taking the car home in one piece.

144mph on the front straight at Pocono. We were running the course clockwise using NASCAR turn 1 instead of the regular IMSA course. This was in a mostly stock '87 Carrera... James Achard

CMP into the kink: 125 mph (before the suspension was installed)

Road Atlanta back strait: 133 mph (after the suspension)

Watkins Glen: 115 mph (come on I was triving a toaster, well not really it was a VW golf, but I think my toaster is more aerodynamic)

Road Atlanta: 129mph on back straight with *late* braking (usually too scared to look); hand-timed 1:49 (ugh -- need to drop that)

Roebling Road: 132mph on front straight; hand-timed 1:29 for a few laps, 1:30 for most.

All on street tires (RE-730s) in '92 968.

Road Atlanta PDE last week: 135 - but only once on day 2- doing lead/follow behind some instructor named Haywood (most laps when I wasn't too busy to look were 129-131). that was in a stock 996.

By the way, the 996 guys are on to something - PSM is incredible.

Road Atlanta= 1:44 at 135-140 on the back straight.

Just a little more and I'll be in the 1.43's (and holding on tight).

Mike in Chi,

Uhhh, would that instructor be Hurley Haywood..? Just curious...you know, he has more wins in the 24 hours of Daytona and LeMans than anyone... I'd PAY to follow him...

Howard

His reputation did preceed him.

And I was willing to pay to follow him -- 2600 beans.

He is incredibly smooth, you can barely hear the blips, but then again, I guess he's had a little practice.

BTW, PDE is well worth the money. It's a lot of seat time, and valuable no matter how much experience you have. Road Atlanta is a hoot (y'all).
