Post How much camber for radial slicks

I am going to try Goodyear radial slicks on my 911 this year. 16x10.5 & 16x12.5.

Any idea where to start on camber?

I am using about 1/2 degree with my the bias plys, but I think the radials want more negative camber.

Dave,

I have not run slicks ..yet. But I have been running Hoosiers with 3 degrees of negative camber. As far as slicks, some of the guys in the club are running 4-5 degrees of neg camber(which seems excessive to me). I would check with Goodyear, I'm sure they can recommend the proper setup.

Dave,

I use Pirelli slicks currently and they need about 3 1/2 and 3 front/rear respectively. They work very well and the wear is good too. You should check with Goodyear or a reputable race shop about camber (and toe in and toe out settings) to make optimal use of slicks.

Are 17-inch slicks available anywhere? 315-335 for the rears, and something like 275's for the fronts? I've seen 16's and 18's, but never 17's. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Jack,

Try Roger Kraus Racing, they have 17's listed.

Which 911 are you driving? Depends a bit on the car.

Do you have an pyrometer? This really helps in fine-tuning the camber with feedback data.

Personally, I'd start with -3.5 degrees in the rear and -3.0 on the front. Then compare your tire-temps on the outside, middle and inside edges for each tire and adjust accordingly.
