Strappin' in (A Tip)
Had lunch yesterday with Dan from St Louis who was in town for a conference. (one of the pleasures of Rennlist is we have cyber friends all over the country)
As we talked about our favorite subject, he mentioned he slid around in his standard (non-sport and standard 3 point lap belts) seat during DEs.
I shared with him a trick I learned years ago that I had figured was common knowledge. He suggested I post it, and since I hadn't seen it before here goes:
Get in your comfortable driving position, and fasten the seatbelt.
Then recline the seatback a couple of inches.
Reach up to the B pillar and give the seatbelt a sharp yank, which should set the safety lock.
While holding the tension on the belt so that the safety lock doesn't release, bring the seat back to its original position. (Easier with a power seat)
You should be strapped in snug and tight.
It's too tight for everyday driving, but perfect for track stuff.
I have no problem staying in place thru an entire track session (puckering during the Kink does provide added stability -- for a few seconds at least)
Of course it's not the same as a 5 or 6 pt harness, but for DEs or autocross, it works very well.
