Post PCA Stock class 944 => S2 tranny?

Hi -
Does anyone know where I should send my scrutineering questions?

I am interested in modifying a 1988 944NA and running it in the prepared class. One question revolves areound the tranny.

I need a transmission, and rather than buying a NA tranny and a GT or Quaife LSD, I thought I should just buy a stock S2 tranny with LSD. I should save about $500.

The 944S2 transmission is supposed to be the same gearing, and therefore performance, but it is supposed to be more reliable. Also, it is easier to find one with LSD.

I think this would fit the updating/backdating clause where it states that it is allowed, if the original specifications are met, and that its a duplicate in all regards.

Any comments?
Thanks!

Jack,

PCA CR scrutinering questions go to Lance Weeks
LweeksPORS@aol.com.

He's a pretty busy guy, so do him a favor and carefully read the rules to avoid asking questions about the obvious...ask me how i know

Thanks for the info, M758...

Based on the gearing info from RacerX, I decided to pass on the S2 transmission.

I'll put a stock transmission in and probably an LSD of some sort.

I'm sure I'll have other questions for Lance, so thanks wannabe...
