Same as it ever was.... If you look back at some famous sports car "pro" series, it was the same or worse. The Trans-Am series in the late '60s and early '70s, with The Factory teams, Penske, Mark Donohue, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, etc., paid out $1500 for ist place in the early years, which later moved to $2500. The Under 2 Liter class was $900 early on and $1300-$1500 later! We thought is was good money at the time.

I read that article too, pretty depressing. If you were a skilled driver who could make it any US series why wouldn't you go to Nascar? Even the losers get rich there...

Very depressing for the road racing gang! It all comes down to how much money is put in the pot from sponsors and television. I was at the Rolex 24 and the stands were empty, wait until the Daytona 500 next weekend, you won't find an empty seat.
