Default Looking for car transport from 48 hours to DC/Norther Virginia

I just bought a race prepped Porsche 944 Turbo, and it is located very close to Sebring.

Does anybody have an extra spot on their trailer to bring the car back to the Washington DC/Northern Virginia Area on the way back from the 48 hour race this weekend? I'm willing to pay.

Let me know.

Jim

how about the 'auto train' approach? it starts in sanford FL, near orlando, and ends in lorton, va.... just a last-resort option...

Was just looking into the "Auto Train" option for a potential trip to the US Grand Prix, one potential problem for a race prepped car is the Auto Train site said cars must have 3" of clearance.

IIRC, the auto train only allows street legal, tagged, inspected and insured vehicles, which could cause problems for race cars even if they have 3" of clearance.

yeah i figured that might hinder things but if the original poster is coming back FROM a race maybe since he's done he won't mind cranking up the spring perch to raise the car... then worry ab height/alignment once he gets home...

also, maybe the u-haul/tow dolly could work? hate to 'drag' a car that far but at least it will be mostly smooth highway miles.

Give Rick Deman a call 845 727 3070 I know that the transport is coming back from sebring to NJ, maybe it might take a detour to DC if you wave enough cash at him.

Default You guys are Awesome!!!

Amtrak says 4 inches of clearance needed. It's not going to work on the Autotrain.

Called Rick Deman. Looks like he has room in his truck, and it looks like he's willing to give my car a one-way ride. We need to work out the details, but it looks real good. Thanks.

Try IMA Motorsport in Fairfax. I know they have a 3-car transporter heading down tomorrow but don't know if it's full. Ask for Ivan or Matt and tell them Jerome referred you.

Default Thank you everybody for your support - It's a done deal

Both Deman Motorsport and IMA Motorsport offered to bring the car back from Sebring. Since IMA is close to my house, I went with them.

Thanks again for your responses.

Jim
