Anyone have photos or links to the Porsche Indy car from 10-12yrs ago. They had the car at a Concours D'Elegance in my city 3-4yrs ago and I took photos but lost the roll of film. I think Teo Fabi drove it. I believe it was a March chassis.
I think it still holds the record for the lowest open wheeled car ever built. Standing five feet from it, I dont think it was much higher than my kneecaps - and that included the rear wing.

Nope, Intescope and "on the gas" Ongais, if we
are talking about the same car.
Here are a couple of links:

No we're talking about different cars, but thanks for those links. This was a Porsche with a March chassis Teo Fabi drove around 89-90 in the Indy 500. I think after that Ongais Porsche in the early 80s, Porsche left CART and went back to Formula 1, then around end of the decade, got back into CART again. I believe he won Mid-Ohio driving it and had a couple poles as well. Looks very much like current CART cars.
The difference though is that it's so much lower than typical CART/Indy cars. A few inches I think. Porsche even used it in advertising ala those old 944/928 ads in motor magazines with the two page spread. It was white and green. Most beautiful car I've ever seen. I just cant tell you how low it was when standing next to it. I think the ground clearance on the thing was under 1 inch or something freaky.
Someone help please. I need to see some photos of this bad boy.

I believe the car UDPride is talking about is the Quaker STate car that raced in 1990. Teo Fabi did most of the development driving in 1989, but John Andretti drove it in the 1990 race.

Teo Fabi raced the same car in 1989 including the whole CART series.

Here is the only picture I could find in a brief search and its a pic of the box of the model:

I saw one of them up close too (put my hands on it). They had a backup car on display at one of the Vegas casinos.
While it was a nice car, it was obvious how crude it was compared to F1 cars, even from 8 or 9 years earlier, that I had seen up close and personal at the Vegas F1 races.
