Kidding aside, I find being able to hear the students breathing helpfull. When pushing a tenitive driver up a little closer to X.X tenths it is another method to tell if they are not comfortable. I did have a dry mouth student once. He was fine and happy in the car but it sounded like someone was stripping masking tape the entire time.
