Default 944 race brake pad suggestions

For those of us not allowed to upgrade calipers: Who's got the best selection of race compounds for the n/a? I'd like to stick with one manufacturer if possible, and try some different compounds. We race an ITS 944 in short races and enduros.

I personally like and have used PF 97's for a long time (that's on the heavier turbo, but they work equally well on a NA)... while not as aggressive as some compounds, they're easy to modulate, easy on rotors, and have a long life. You'll also probably find a lot of guys who run and are very happy with the various Carbotech flavors.

I have had great results with Hawk blues.

Do you normally run the same compounds front and rear?

I love my KFP's... very rotor-friendly, fade-resistant...

I just went through the same decision process....PFC does not produce a pad in 97 or 01 compound that will fit the NA 944 calipers....I would have preferred to use them as I have used them on the Cup car and they are superb....Talked with Paul Weston (Weston Motorsports) and he recommended Hawk HT-10 compound. Said they are very nice pads without the high ferro content of the Blues, which can burn and mar brake components and paint...I am running them at VIR in February

Does the 944 NA use the same calipers as the 924s? Only asking because I have PFC 97s on my 924s. I got them from OG racing in sterling VA. At first we couldnt find the right front pads, but then the owner came out with them in his hand. Ive used them for two weekends of DE and they have been great do far!

I have used PF97's on other cars and they are great pads, I couldn't find a 944NA part number for them so I got Hawk Blues (front and rear). I have been happy with the performance of my Hawk Blues, the only negative is that they are pretty hard on the rotors.

Not sure if the 924 calipers are the same...It would be nice to know...maybe PFC has the pads listed for a 924 caliper part #.....

x2. It is shocking how long PF97s last on my n/a. I am a happy customer.

I had Pagid Oranges on my S2. I kept getting buildup on the rotors (warping) and when I upgraded to the turbo S rotors & calipers in the front I switched to PF 97's as they seemed to be highly regarded.

I'll let you know in about 3 weeks at Roebling...

Many of the guys I run with use Hawk Blues and seem happy with them.

I use Pagid Yellows (Enduro compound). So far, I like them, but I only have a couple of DE's with them.

Prior to the Pagid's, I used KFP Magnum Golds - while they were very rotor friendly, I found they wouldn't last a whole DE session (25-30 minutes) without exhibiting a little bit of brake fade.

+1 on the HT-10's. I have been buying from Paul for years and run the gamut. KFP's lacked the stop, Hawk Blues had no modulation and ate pads and rotors and wheels. The 10's are just right on stop, modulation and they are lasting much longer than I anticipated.

I do, but it's not strictly necessary. Particularly if your brake bias adjustment(s) are limited by the rules or otherwise, using different front and rear compounds is a way to balance front and rear "bite".
