Default Say you're thinking about club racing...

..but your car is an "RS replica" with a 3.2, cage, brakes, suspension, etc. Nicely prepped and quick for what it is but not competitive for GT-3.

Putting in a smaller motor is a possibility. Selling the car and buying another is NOT.

The goal is to have some fun and get W2W experience. What class should I shoot for that might have other cars (even in another class) running similar times?

You can run in D class if you turn it into a real 2.7 RS. What are the brakes, etc?

NASA GTS challenge....hp/weight ratio is all that matters.

There are places to look...NASA as suggested for one, where your car will work without being redesigned for a PCA class.

Options:

1) Research other organizations - NASA, SCCA, PBOC, etc. I do a few SCCA races along with these groups. Classes aren't that great for Porsche's but if you want W2W and competition, you'll find it.

2) Do a 3.4 conversion on your 3.2 and get competitive in GT-3

3) Put in a smaller engine and move down classes. However, you'll have to address what you've done to the brakes/suspension.

My green car was like that, I traded the 3.2 for a 2.7RS and made it stock enough to run in PCA or anywhere else. Keeping things stock keeps the costs way down and makes you concentrate on driving more.

With this engine I can be pretty competitive in almost any series, though the really trick 2.7 and 2.8 RSR engines can pass you on the straights. SCCA has a HRG series in the northeast, you can run with HSR and SVRA too. People seem to forget the 2.7RS in PCA E class but my car is within a second of the track record everywhere it has run I think (still has the Beaverun record?).

Check my website for some of the races I've done in it, even ran SCCA GT2 in October and won the NARRC runoffs in it (ok there were no other GT2 cars...).

Good luck and have fun!

Todd, +1 for GTS Challenge. It's fun, it's power to weight, they have 13/13...come on out
