Default Chris Harris in a Porsche RS Spyder at Weissach

This may well be a repost, given its age, but it's new to me and quite good. Even if it's old, it's worth a re-watch.

Two surprising things, Chris Harris' pronunciation of "Porsche" and the fact they let him out for hot laps in it. I know Harris writes for a number of UK publications, but what's his background that the factory will let him out in an RS Spyder? I can't imagine most journalists being allowed the drive?

However it is a sweet video and that is just awesome that they are letting journalists take that thing around the track.

Now if they'll just let the photographers do the same.

Absolutely awesome, however, there seems to be a lot of promo for this car of late. Think Porsche is underwhelmed by the interest it has received from privateers? I believe only two are in ALMS this year (Penske & Dyson?).

It's not exactly cheap and Porsche has to approve your team to get one. Can't just write a check even if you had the money.

Seems pretty competent as a driver .

Porsche is going to have problems getting teams to pickup their prototype program. The Spyder has not been reliable and the last time they had a successful prototype program was 20 yrs ago ..

At their last gt /prototype lemans attempt, their privateers felt they where badly threated, causing one Mr Joest to jump ship , saying never again....
Hence the Audi deal.

I'm sure it did not help , that at last years ALMS Banquet , Audi chief layed into them for not producing a top level car in yrs and challenged them along with others to take on Audi.
Porsche is going to have to prove themselves at the top level of Motorsports again to see the privateers comeback , as there are now quite a few small specialist manufactuers making very competent prototype cars for them to compete against .

Gotta 'sell it' to sell it...

The RS Spyder was just featured in R&T, too. Brian Redman at the helm...
