I'm researching a local 1986 951 chassis that is an undercoating, a/c, sunroof delete model. The VIN is WP0AA0950GN152115. If the car was born without undercoating, it almost assuredly was destined to be a race car. I have little hints of info that it might have been a Playboy/ Escort series car. Does anybody have info/experience with this race series? You guys were hot with the Rothman's series stuff. Come on guys, show me the power of RENNLIST! Thanks. TC

Tim:
I looked at Porsche books I have nothing on that series. I have information on the European Cups and the Canadian Cups.
When I get home I'll look at the VIN # and compare it to VINs that were built as Cups for that year.

88 Rothman Turbo Cup

Tim according to Peter Morgan's book VIN#
WP0AA0950GN152115 looks like a regular 951 that was a Canada/US car.
According to his book, there were no factory Cup turbos in 1986.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think it was a special order car(through Holbert's) to be used in the series, but the series had many other types of cars. So the car wouldn't have that specific moniker. It would just be a car from the series.

According to "John Little", there were 7 cars built for the US Escort Series in 1986. He bought one. 2 of them had factory sponsorship. I'm still diggin' for more info!! Thanks so far. Come on RENNLIST!

Try John Lowe or Tony Henderson. John has one of the original Escort cars and Tony used to be the head wrench on one. John is the PCA 914 tech advisor and Tony is the owner of Performance Plus in New Jersey.
