paragraph 6, line C "Lexan windshield of appropriate thickness and quality of construction are allowed".
James, windshields are the only glass we can swap out. I have my PHD in "stock" means "stock" except as listed in the rule book. Where is your spare tire?...

Ohhh, I missed that one!! Good catch, I do know they have a habit of leaking/ popping out. I'd get the brackets from SRP just as a precaution. My spare tire is where it should be!! In the bonnet. Glad I had it to since I picked up a screw in my new Pilot Sport Cups at Mt. Tremblant

Bill:
In my experience, the best stuff is the "helicopter glass" Lexan sold by Kelly Moss Racing. Pricey, but very high quality and a stock-like tint.
BTW-- you know this stuff is probably going to leak, right? If that's not acceptable, go with glass again.

I agree about the Kelly-Moss supplied Lexan. It's tinted, comes oversize so you trim it to fit, and is better quality than a previous windshield I had from somewhere else.
I bought the early 944 windshield mount from the dealer (mounts on the pinchweld, has a lip to put urethane into) and some mastic for the bottom. Using vinyl trim from a glass place (take your windshield in, the guys there applied the black primer for me and we selected a piece of universal trim) and urethane from Eastwood, my Lexan looks stock. And, no leaks despite racing in rain (well, except through the open door windows). Removal (remember, on racecars everything will sooner or later need removal and replacement) is easy by unfolding the factory trim at the pinch weld and the windshield comes out. I didn't use metal retainers before, but the ones sold by SmartRacing are pretty trick.

Bill,
Here's another supplier of race glass (lexan), www.spektrproducts.com.
Are you coming up to Watkins Glen in June?
