Post TracQuest/Rennlist at Watkins Glen....

Finally back and have a bit of time to post my review (before Todd Serota does - in which case, there will be nothing left to say :-)….

The event was "terrific"! If you missed it - well, too bad - but for 100+ folks, it was a terrific turn out and a marvelous time on one of the best East Coast tracks. While the weather could have been a bit, ummm "more seasonable" (snow falling during the second session of the Red/Instructors session??!!), the amount of track time was terrific for all the drivers. And where else can you run with Corvettes (great cars!), a few Ferraris, Miatas, Porsches, BMWs, Al.. Well, you get the idea…. Besides - where else could you point a Porsche 962 by to take the inside line at the "bus stop" (thanks Bill H. - what a fantastic car!!! It was a pleasure and an honor to be on the track with you at the same time!! Simply amazing!!!!)...

As well, Jen and I had the chance to meet a lot of Rennlist Members and folks who just hang-out on Rennlist. As always - everyone was terrific and really added to the overall success of the event.

So - before Todd adds his $0.50 (I'd say $0.02, but Todd always has more then $0.02 to say:-) - here are my rambles…..

Jason Judd. Most EXCELLENT Wine during dinner!!! I have no idea what happened after 9:00 PM that evening, but I do remember a "zesty" little Zinfandel. As well - your 968 is a terrific ride - excellent handling, wonderful cornering - and best of all - IT HAD HEAT!!! :-)

Rick Betterley. What can I say? I tried staging with you in the Instructors/Red group, but for some reason, we never saw each other on the track (well, except once - when I let you pass:-)

Chris White. You have GOT TO BE KIDDING!!! I saw your post on the 944/951 list, and you were not ALWAYS the one who passed me! In fact, I remember DISTINCTLY that I passed you while I was on the front straight. In fact - I passed you like you were standing still. At the time, I believe you were in Pit Out…

Steve Shanks. I actually kept up with you for a lap or two. After that, your Turbo appeared to become "unclogged" - and there was NO WAY I could find you from that point on… However, I still have no idea why the track was so slippery when I was right behind you??? :-)

Bill Kohnke. "Mrs. Murphy" (a 2.0 914) is a TERRIFIC ride! It was a pleasure to pilot it a couple of times around the track. However - you are a "sandbagger" - you didn't need any instructor, your line and driving ability was/is terrific!!

Stephen Kohnke. Talk about "Deja-vu" - I have now met Dave Darlings EXACT TWIN. I kid you not… However, I had the pleasure of instructing Stephen for a couple of sessions in his gorgeous Mustang GT. A terrific driver with a terrific car. It gave me a new perspective of what the modern day "pony cars" can do….

Eddie Villela. What can I say….??? A Turbo 914 2.0 (yes, the same one that was in Excellence magazine recently - but with a 2.0 rather then the 1.7). Ed is a great friend, and I had the pleasure of riding with him during the first session - and let me tell you, that TURBO is terrific!! It pulls like my car and sounds outstanding. And Ed's driving ability leaves little, if anything, to be desired….

Todd Serota. My thanks for an outstanding event. I can't wait until Mid-Ohio or Watkins Glen for the next TracQuest/Rennlist later in the season. For that, I did manage (yet another time - NOT to take Todd out with me during any of the sessions… Heh, heh, heh….:-)

And to all the folks I met, my THANKS for making this probably the best DE Jen and I have been to for a long time… And to Bill, Tim, Dennis, Rob, Dave, Mike, well - loads of folks I couldn't post as I'd run out of space, know how much both Jen and I appreciate the comments, support and enthusiasm for Rennlist and TracQuest events... My thanks....

Also - if folks have pictures - PLEASE send them to me (I had no time to take any pics) as I'd like to do a photo gallery for the folks (so they know what they missed:-)

My Best to All..!!!
