Question 944 Fuel cell (Kokeln or Worldwide Motorsports) for sale?

Hi,

does anybody know where to buy a 944 Fuel Cell?
The Kokeln used to be $ 2499 or less, the only place I can find is Stable energies, who charges a whopping $4159 for it.
The other source, Worldwide Motorsport seems to be dead on the web at least?

Anyone has one lying around collecting dust?

I'd be interested if the price were more reasonable - the benefits for me would be safety, capacity and quicker fill times during endurance races.

The main reasons for a fuel cell are like Rick says: safety, capacity and quicker fill times.

For me there is yet another reason: Better aerodynamics. I am looking for a way to get a sizable diffuser under the rear of the car. But I do not want to do this by raising the CoG, that kind of defeats the purpose of improving the handling

If you look at the fitment of the Kokeln Fuel cell that looks like a good solution

I only wonder how they solved the fuel pickup, it allmost looks like two connected tanks

Are you sure we couldn't get someone to make something similar? For a more reasonable price.

Yes, my thinking exactly. The original price would be a good idea.
I am going to ask around. I am pretty suer, if it is out of production long enough, there will be a market for it again.

Call Fuel Safe, they probably will work with you in building a cell, for cheaper, best, Sonny.

I think if they were to offer something for a more reasonable price there would be a number of us beating on their door to buy it. I've already sent them an email.

Fellas...from an old post I started 10/05 ("Fuel Cell in a 944 Track Car?" ) .
Who knows, maybe one of you will get lucky.

A little more info iis in this post + you can find a whole bunch more in a post written by RedLineMan (John Hajny) where he documents his one-of-a-kind fuel cell installation. Circa 2005. Do a search.

Mike

Nort Northam at the Northam Collection in Orlando, had at least one cell. I think it was a Fuel-safe brand, but I am not sure. He had access to the last 2 or 3 made, and offered me one at $1,200. It looked great, and fit in the stock location. The company that made them couldn't sell enough, so they quit, and Nort has at least one. I have lost his number, but just try directory assistance in Orlando, for the Northam Collection which is about exit 88 off I-4, almost downtown. He may know where to find one.

Kind of discouraged me to go this direction..
