Default Do nomex suits expire like helmets?

How long of a lifespan do they have? Do the different sanctioning bodies have different rules for how long they are good for?

Right now, no. SFI rated suits now have dates on them, so this may change in the future. A couple years ago SCCA proposed expiriation dates for SFI 3-2A/10 and higher suits, but not /1 or /5 suits. Looks like they dropped that idea, I don't see anything in the current SCCA GCR.

As long as there's no holes, frays or a brown racing stripe in the back you're good to go.

Don't give SFI any ideas or we'll all be buying new suits every 3-5 years.

Who's job is it to conduct the brown stripe (BS) inspections and enforce this rule? Should that task be assigned to drivers who provoke yellow flags?

Spin off track and put a bunch of debris on the track at today's event and conduct brown racing stripe inspections at the next event? Such a requirement would surely inspire drivers to keep all four on the track and result in more enjoyment for the general body.
