Spec 964 Racing

Spec 964 Racing
I was wondering what those of you who have, have had, or are interested in having a 964 would think of a Spec 964 class to race in. The basic parameters would be a mostly stock car but with a minimum weight that reflects removing stuff like all the interior, A/C, yet without having to get expensive FRP body parts.
Suspension would probably be open, with the limiting factor being wheels and tires - maybe 7, 7.5, or 8 in front and 9 in back, with toyos.
This recently came up in a conversation I was having about converting my 964 to a NASA/PRC GTL car.
I know there aren't a "lot" of 964s out there, but I thought there just might be enough to put together a class, kind of like the GTS and GTL classes with NASA/PRC.

Sound interesting Chance, but in our area we seem to be getting spec'd out. What with
Spec 911/toyo cup
Spec 944
Spec boxster getting geard up in Norcal
Also somewhat spec GTL.
Norcal classes may be getting too fragmented.
Just my .02 cents worth.

I don't think so. The class was formed as part of PRC (porsche racing club) PCA really doesn't come out here so a few years ago some of the PCA autocrossers and time trialers decieded to form thier own club. We race under NASA. I believe in the north east NASA/GTS (german touring car series) is big.

You've got a good idea. The problem is getting enoug people involved to make for meaningful racing. I would have been interested a year ago, I'm too deep into my 911SC to get another race car. I have some friends lurking on the sidelines looking for venue to go racing. A spec 964 series would make it easy.
I would keep the interior stock and model the class after PCA stock classes. Open suspension means Motons and ERP. Some people want to drive to the track and home.
