I thought that project was killed a while back. Latest is an F1 carting facility to be built out there.

F1LongIsland is owned by the same individual who owns www.F1Boston.com (indoor karting) and www.F1Outdoor.com
My son has raced 3 seasons at F1Outdoor, currently in a FR125 Junior Rotax kart. Very impressive track/facility, especially for this part of the country.
As with all racing facilities these days, there have been endless complaints from neighbors, town meetings, etc regarding noise. We currently are forced to run secondary mufflers and a ~$500K sound wall was built around part of the track.
I hope it goes well in NY.

Noise Noise, give it a rest. Most of those people complaining about the noise probably live next to a highway or close to a train track.
Back in October, I went to this new track called Calabogie and you couldn't even ear cars just outside the track premises.

I was referring to the real race track concept that is gaining momentum behind closed doors; I had thought it a dead topic but there are rumblings that it is yet alive...will try to get more info
