How do you attach to the belts? Where is the optimal place to attach to the roof area so the belts are up and in reach? What size tubing do you use?

Any guidance would be great!

Run the tubing through the small space where the belt attaches to the metal clip. (The clip part that goes into the cam lock.) Double it back and tie it with two zip ties.

I will try to find some pictures of our BMWs that have them, but the seats and such are out of the cars right now.

This is how I use it on the lower belts - keeps the buckle end right at the top of the seat so you don't sit on them.

4 Kurves beat me to it, but here is one of our Grand Am Cup 330i's. You can see how the tubing holds the harness in place. It's an ex-turner car before we painted it, hence the colors.

This is great. My challenge now is to find black surgical tubing.

Is it possible to use it in any way up on the shoulder belts?

I've seen GA and ALMS GT cars with it attached to the shoulder belts. The popular attachment seems to be up and slightly behind the seat so that the belts stay out of the way during exit and entry.

It looks like getting it in black is easy. What size is best?

In Physical Therapy world we have stuff called Theratube. Comes in a rainbow of colors, each with a different wall thickness, which equals resistance for exercises. You could probably go by your local PT clinic and buy a few feet off the folks for a buck. Warning: black and grey offer the most resistance, so unless you want a work out trying to buckle in, ask 'em for the yellow or red.....

Yes, I though we were talking about shoulder belts not the lap belts. I do not have an issue with lap belts it is the shoulder belts that get in the way more than anything.

Still looking for recommendations on optimal thickness, length estimates or guidelines, and where to mount on the roof in relation to the seat/belts.

Thanks for the advice so far everyone!

This set up seems to work pretty well.
