I think that those guys need a reality check. Maybe they think that it will protect them from the tire walls too!

I had my car repainted a few years ago. When it was finally done, I picked it up and the paint shop and drove straight to the track I can't imagine painters tape is going to do a whole hell of a lot of good against a rock if you're going 80-100 mph.
There a guy at Mosport this year with the front of his car all nicely taped up. Too bad he used the *** of the car to hit the tire wall in T4

i used to freak out about chips.
now i like them, sort of like war scars. i got so much sand blasting on the sideskirts that there's no paint left.

They should spend a few bucks on some clothes.
At least I don't see any painters' cracks.

It's got to take a while to put all that tape on.
Check the oil? Nope. Check the brakes? Nope. Check the tire pressures? Nope. Torque the lugnuts? Nope, but I got'er taped!

Hell, the group I drive with is so fast compared to me (mostly GT-3's, GT-2, F360Challenge, 600hp 935 replica, blah blah), I'd have to put the tape on the back of the car since even the flying debris is passing me

My M3 and 996 are not only my track toys...but also showcases for my detailing business and make regular appearances at shows that I sponsor...so they get their fair share of taping (usually it's painters tape covered with body color'd duct tape over top of that).
BUT...even I'm not that over the top about it. As a matter of fact I may be getting lazy because I did my last two track events of the year with no tape at all. We won't discuss the amount of clear bra on my cars though.

Well, I have to admit that I did the tape thing on my very first DE. Of course, blue painters tape goes exceptionally well with Pheonix Yellow
