PCA club racing

Well I sure did'nt think the car would go that far without being able to stop. The club has enough money for awards. Although this is racing for "fun/enjoyment", each Club Race I believe tries to the best for each racer. I may have crashed At Daytona, but I had a blast until then. Looking forward to Sebring and all the races after.

It is not that hard to come up with, make and track a points system that addresses the concerns raised. Doesn't have to be all races. Could be 2 of 3 major races w/proven attendance to cover the country. And perhaps a west racer adds in best finishes regionally there and an east racer does the same with east coast finishes, etc.
There just doesn't seem to be a ground swell to do it.
A combined points system w/current PCA focus on keeping incidents down would be enticing compared to NASA, where even major incidents bring few penalties--even though you'd think the points would make people more careful there.

Patti I think you have a good idea. One of the reasons for the migration to NASA in ATL is the season with a points winner at the end. Now most of the 944cup racers are not doing PCA anymore becuase NASA is a) cheaper, b) gives you 2 races/weekend, c) has a points system, d) allows more flexibility with car build, e) more lenient on the 13/13 rule, and f) not as prentitious (maybe a bad word but you get the idea).
I like Joe's idea - have a points series wothin a given region. It's the only way to do it. No way I'm going to Mid-ohio and Watkins Glen for points. In the SE for example there's Sebring, ATL, New Orleans, (VIR), CMP and Roebling - enough to make a series. That I could handle. Then what about all of the classes - somebody has to track all 100 of them....
BTW I like the trophies. But I am not a fan of all the shirts, jackets, gym bags, etc. I was told once that in ATL the jackets they gave away cost $50 each, That's $50 I'd rather put into a set of tires. PCA racing is expensive compared to NASA and SCCA due to the additional track time and the higher cost of registration.
As it stands now I plan to run for the 944cup trophy next year. Maybe nto do any PCA at all.
Is it me or is registartion really dropping? how many people were at CMP? Daytona did not fill up, Roebling has some 60 sign-ups to date......

I think one of the reasons there are few trophies is the thought that without them racers might drive in a little bit less risk taking way. I know I would loose my sense and throw it all at the wall to get a $10 trophy.

PIR - 51 Minutes - (NASA & PCA)
Firebird - 55 Minutes - NASA
Las Vegas - 5.5 Hrs -
Cal Speedway - 5hrs 10 min - NASA & PCA
Spring Mtn - 6hrs 30 min
Willow Springs - 6hr 30min - NASA
Buttonwillow - 7hrs 45min - NASA
Pueblo, Co - 10hrs 45 Min - PCA
Miller - 10hrs 50 min - PCA
Laguna Seca - 11 hrs 10 min
Infineon - 12 hrs
Thunderhill - 12hrs
Hallet - 15hrs - PCA
Mid-ohio - 28.5 hrs - NASA & PCA
Here in Phoenix I have 2 races "close" PIR, Cal Speedway, and two that a full day Miller & Pueblo. Hard to make a "series" from 4 PCA races.
