What are "bobbins" on GT1 brake hats???

Here are a few examples of typical racing brake hat 'bobbins' -- Each supplier has their own theories how these should work.

The above pictures show the typical race (noisy) race set up.

As I have mentioned earlier check with Brembo if the McLaren fasteners are applicable to your rotors. Some manufacturers use it as OEM on their floating rotors (Audi B7 RS4) and proofs, contrary what was said in this thread, that a quiet floating rotor is a reality for the street.

They not noisy, none of our race drivers ever mention hearing brake rotor clatter
