Colin, please note I said "one of...".

The most valued is, without doubt, ghetto racer.

I hear Colin is gonna race in F next year.

Chris, with respect, going to the CDI is not whiney. A blocker creates a safety issue. In addition, if it is directed blocking, it creates a personal safety issue that can escalate. And finally, it prevents a paying customer from fully enjoying her weekend & getting her money's worth.

By all means, the CDI needs to know about this.

Well, to the extent that Chris is saying that you should try to say something to the driver first before going to the CI, I agree.

Most people at DEs are good people, even if they are unaware or temporarily overtaken by red mist. I have never, ever had a problem after I have spoken with someone. Of course, I suspect it is all in what and how you say it, but I would rather someone talk with me first before going to the CI. So long as they are polite and decent about it, shouldn't be a problem. If it is still a problem, then going to the CI is appropriate. "Most" of the time annoyances are unintentional . . . and even when they are intentional, few people will keep it up after having been called on it . . .

I guess I read Adrienne's original comments as saying that the same folks who derided her in the paddock blocked her on track.

If this is true, I do not think speaking with them would solve anything. They have proved themselves to be double azzholios.

If it is not the same people, I agree with you & Chris.

I think it might even work with those same *****. When someone treats you unfairly, they know it most of the time. When you call them on it politely, it can sometimes shame them into knocking it off (at least while they are on the track) even if they don't "admit" it at the moment. If it doesn't, then you have even more ammo for the CI.

In my experiences, the biggest blowhards in public (or on the Internet for that matter) are pushovers when they get called on their behavior in private . . .

Yeah, you may be right. I guess I have never had a problem with another student on track (back when I was one), so I never had to go that route.

I have, however, had occasional issues with dip**** instructors who do stupid stuff with students looking. I have never had any interest in speaking with them about it, however. If, in a position of responsibility, they are too freaking dense to know to act appropriately, a conversation isn't going to change their mulletheaded mindset. Their boss (the CDI) needs to deal with the problem, not me. Life is too short to negotiate with terrorists.

He races a D class car. His car number is 38.
Your wife may find that funny. Maybe not. But it cracks me up everytime I see it.

Larry

To address a few of the comments, personally I think my best plan of attack would be in this order:
1. Be more aggressive in displaying my intent to pass, so that intent is clear.
2. If I still do not get the pass, speak with the driver after the session.
3. If I do not get the pass in the next session, speak with CDI.

Here's another thought if the guy is being a reall a$$hole....I could grid up behind him the next session to test his "understanding" of allowing the pass. But considering the red mist and potential to aggravate, it's probably better to grid up in front of him, and let him try to keep up.

For the battered egos in the paddock:
1. Smile at their difficulty to accept reality.
2. Continue to blow their doors off.

Hi, it's the sexist pig here. I vote for lining up behind them, and staying there until the dumbass lets you by or overcooks it and goes off. Then you can wave to them.

this is still the best solution.... this isn't quite the polite activity such as golf... "no please, i insist. go ahead and play through..."

this is an ego-driven high stakes (at least healthwise) activity to see who can manhandle couple thousand pounds of metal and MAKE IT change direction at your will... while not 'losin it' in the process... pressure, pressure, and more pressure is the way to go. fill up their mirrors so much that they don't even see daylight in them... and enjoy all the (compounded) textbook mistakes culminating in an excursion into the dirt

them's the rules when it's 'for real'... go ahead an apply them now

You know, the real DE mantra answer is, pull into the pits and go back out.
