Are all Spins/Offs Created Equal?

A bit off topic, but you will find that novice/intermediate drivers tend to spin more after the apex while advanced drivers more foten spin before the apex.
Novces go in ragged, less than full speed and off line then screw things up. Advanced drivers on on line and on the edge. If they are too fast, they get caught at turn in.

The first rule covers anyone driving like an idiot, esp like JayP says - passing in turns, passing without a signal, etc, all of which are more dangerous than spinning IMO. I've never run with NNJR, but knowing that they consider dropping 2 off a "spin", and knowing that I may do that 3-4 times a weekend in Oak Tree makes me consider not running with them at all. I don't want to to blow a $600 weekend just because I hit some dirt on trackout a couple of times.
So the question isn't really "how fast should green group students drive" but more how is this 2 spin rule applied to an otherwise safe driver who happens to overcook a corner once or twice?

Just goes to show that escaping damage is delicate balance of luck and skill . . . .

BTW, a fellow rennlister just sent me an awesome video of that same incident from behind me. Really amazing. Maybe I can convince him to post it on google video . . .

The car has been sold, unfortunately.
It was a BMW 330. When it ran (or, should I say, if & when it ran), it was a very good car that often elicited ramming-speed love taps from the chrome horns of cars in a higher class whose drivers were shocked that such a feeble, underpowered car could school them in the curves over & over again. So they would use our car as their braking marker at the end of long straights...
I will try to upload & post one such fiasco from last year at Barber. I got 5 whole minutes of uninterrupted screen time on Speed TV. W00t!!!!!!

er.... any novice driver (green, blue) shouldn't be spinning in the first place. i'd say thats the instructor's fault for letting the driver approach those situations.
on the other hand, i had a student who learned alot from a previous off (several weekends ago) and that helped us develop his skills in certain places on the track.
