I love the new Duramax/Allison pickups. They drive like 6000 pound muscle cars with their 650 lb-ft of torque!

However, for me, the vehicle will also be a daily driver. The new Yukon XL/Suburbans are nearly 2' shorter than a crew cab 2500HD pickup, have a much nicer interior, and ride better as a daily driver, not to mention having front & rear air conditioning. Plus, around here, regular gasoline is 20 to 35 cents per gallon less expensive than diesel.

Regular gas may be cheaper than diesel but don't forget that a diesel with get 20-30% better fuel mileage.

Not around town as a daily driver, they don't.

All great observations etc. When I made the choice I did not want to get another vehicle to dedicate for towing only (DE fan so far.......racing in 3 years...) so I picked the 6.0L GMC Denali. Nice inside, good family hauler, not too much bling and it works for my 24' featherlite with stuff. Since FL is relatively flat the truck works well and I can drag at 65+ if I want to (10mpg pump gas). When the r-bug hits I will likely supersize the entire setup but I just found out that braces are needed, college, weddings, home deposit, etc........ so that may have to wait.

I agree d-fuel is the way to go but at 6:00am in my HOA I would certainly get a letter...

In my F-350 with the 6.0L diesel I get 13 to 15 MPG uphill, downhill, in town or on the highway. It will be cheaper to operate a diesel over a big block gas motor and will last forever. Plus you will get most of the premium you pay for upfront back when you sell it down the road.
Trust me on this as I have several in my company...

What are they doing sleeping at 6 AM???

Actually I guess I'm rather fortunate that when I drive my track car (read loud) in the neighborhood the kids come out of their houses and as for a ride!!
