The RTR region has worked very hard at increasing the number of instructors so that we will someday reach a goal of each instructor having only one student at an event. Currently many of our instructors teach two students and this can really be tough physically on an instructor. As a result of the increase in the number of certified instructors you find instructors driving in both the red and black groups. There are a few non instructors driving in each group and the division is really HP. Both redk and black run grroups are very experienced drivers and they do mix together, usually on the last day of an event when the participants start to thin out. It is also very common for red run group instructors to run in black when they have a student with them. Our other solo run group is white and we have green and blue instructed groups.

This is the same with Potomac. Red and Black are mostly instructors and the split is based roughly on times. Potomac has worked hard for years to find, train and then hold onto instructors and we can fill both with instructors alone. Potomac events are 1 to 1 instructor to student. The home events sell out in days if not hours and the away events fill up as well. We use Green Blue White Black Red. There is some blending of Red and Black with instructors missing a run in one going out in the other after asking and combining at the end of a weekend. We do not let students ride in Red or Black unless they are in White and then they ride in Black. Potomac's rule is take your student in the group one up from his/hers and to drive at the speed of the group you are in. Thrashing your way through Blue showing off is not cool.
