I saw the car today up on a lift at IMA..... the engine was out and they said it had just come back from the engine dyno.... i was floored when i heard the numbers..... but its something i would expect from Ivan's crazy shop and a motor like that.

Chris, I read the Excellence article... If you were going to go that radical, why not go with a mid engine configuration? How about an update?

Don't the new chassis have a longer wheelbase, stiffer platform, better suspension geometry, better aero package
I would build a 996 GT2. Grab all the right cup car parts, strip it down to 2600 lbs, stick RSR flairs
The success comes from the right parts being assembled by the right people.
Hi All /
Larry, I agree longer wheel base is nice, but working with older tubs (mine is a 75 711S) gives a big advantage in reducing weight. As we are talking PCA GT classes the cage and proper cross members/gussets take care of being stiff. Think in terms of say 2200 lbs. For a natural car 2050? (no turbos-intercoolers-less oil cooler-s pipes and hoses)
RE right parts and lines, Bill at Eurotech is pecking away at a full out GT1 similar to mine but with multilink suspension and 993 GT2 bodywork. As was said part of the fun is building your own combination for Porsche components, and for me at least to keep tweaking it a little every year. Can't wait for WG to see if the results are what we hope for.

If you start with something that's better it isn't always...just like my project but on a much, much larger budget. Its the changing and modification to what's there that is the "fun and interesting" part.

I read about this car and wanted to cry its so amazing...pneumatic paddle shifts...just wow. Love how the body work echos the rear hump from the 935s.
