I'm looking for the PFC's for my 1988 Carrara. I have searched and can't seem to find them. I even called and e-mailed the manufacturer, but have not heard back from them yet. Does anyone have a part # and source?

Dan.

Hi Dan,
The part #'s for your 911 are:
0031.97.15.44 Rear
0045.97.15.44 Front

OG Racing is a stocking distributor (Rennlist sponsor as well)

I'd like to apologize for the poor response, I've had the entire PFC race department locked in one room doing our annual product line review. If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. pgilsdorf@performancefriction.com

Phil,

Thanks, No problem on the response time, they said you were in a meeting.

I just ordered the pads and some ATE Blue as well.

Thanks for your help!

+1 Yellow Pagids (But I'd pick the RS29 instead of the RS19)

PF 97's are the way to go. Great feel, good bite, no fade. I ran the whole season in 944 cup with one set of pads, and they still have enough left for one more race weekend in October.

Pagid oranges (IMO) aren't up to serious track work. Too much fade and the ubiquitious "pad poop" transfer problems.

Pagid Blacks Z-man

BTW, Pagid Blacks have better brake modulation then Pagid Oranges.

I'm about to go with PFC 01's on the front and 97's rear. They will only go in for the trackday or 1 before. Also using the Castrol SFR, s/s braideds + have had good cooling after fitting 968cs underbody air deflectors (for want of a better term?). This is on my '89 951 for short hard sprint events on the circuit so less about duration but get really punished for a short time.

Hawk HT-10. Great on the track, unbearably loud on the drive to the track.

Pagis Yellows or Pagid Blacks. Best pads I have used, and I have tried them all.

In fact most of the 44s in our paddock were having brake issues last week.

I've been getting lots of reccos for the Hawk Blues and PFC 97s. I'll decide before Daytona.

Depending on your rotor temps, RS29 Yellow (Pagid) or RS14 Black will get the job done best. 44's do exhibit pad transfer and are a older but still relied upon pad. Yellows are the newer and superior compound.

Pagid RS29 and RS19 are the Yellow compounds. 29's have more initial bite, 19's have more ability for modulation. 19's are very rotor friendly and are an endurance compound. The Yellow's (29 and 19) are more expensive than Orange's; however, they last longer.

I have been trying the Hawk Blues on my 73 "RS". THey are a little tough to use in high speed threshold braking with my early non ABS car. I missed T1 at Lime Rock a few times (twice losing a position in an SCCA race) by trying to brake hard and late. On my car they need to be used gently or else you lose control and steering. They are a little too powerful for their own good.

Previously I used Pagid Orange and thought they initially were TERRIBLE but after a while I got used to them and they were great for me in that they did not make me overbrake and were good in HARD LATE braking situations, unlike the hawk blues.

Before those I used PF pads and always liked them but they were also a little too powerful.
I like the Pagid black on my cup car.

I wonder, if you can lock your brakes from top speed, why do you need any pads more powerful than that?

good luck!

Will at Precision is doing my 944NA and set me up with KFP Golds because, like yours, my car sees both street and track. Also, KFPs are cheaper than race oriented pads like Pagid Black. Clearly, they are a compromise - I also experienced a little fade at the end of a run - but since the car is on the street more than the track I can't fault Will's reasoning. That said, once my car has its surgery and becomes a pure track car I am sure it will have racing pads.

ZMan,

I started with Pagid Orange pads and as my driving progressed I ended up in a similar situation as you are currently describing. I went to the Pagid Blacks and have had no issues what so ever. I really like the pads, but am considering trying the Yellows next time as others have also recommended them to me.

GOod luck
