Free NASA Licenses for German Marque Racers

September 1, 2006

For Immediate Release

Denver, CO - The Rocky Mountain Region of the National Auto Sport Association will be providing free NASA competition licenses to new racers who enter their German manufactured race cars at the September 30 – October 1 event. The event will be held at the recently completed Motorsports Park Hastings, a 2.3 mile road course located in Nebraska.

In order to be eligible for the free license, racers must be new to NASA and must enter and compete in one of the following classes at this inaugural weekend: GTS Challenge, 944Spec or SpecE30.

The GTS Challenge class features “run what you brung” rules and is divided into six sub classes that are based on a simple horsepower to weight ratio. The flexible rules of the class make it open to any BMW, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, or Mercedes that meets the minimum safety requirements. The class which is run under a “13/13” no contact rule has been very popular, often fielding 40 or more cars in just its 2nd year.

The 944Spec and SpecE30 race classes are two of NASA’s limited preparation classes which attract fields of closely matched Porsche 944s and BMW E30 chassis vehicles. The cost of building a spec car for either is under $10k, which is a bargain for the performance and fun factor that is found in this class.

Existing licenses from other sanctioning bodies can be used to easily apply for a NASA competition license. To start the application process all that is needed is a copy of the existing license and a copy of a medical form less than two years old.
