Why ask if 2:18 is fast for RA if you turned a 2:16?

John ,
Last time I was at Road America it was in 2000 at the PCA event.... 6 years has passed since then, the cars have better tires.. technology...suspension pieces...more 996 GT3RSR's... 997 GT3RSR's perhaps. There were no water cooled 911/996 based turbo cars with crazy HP,ABS , Traction Control etc.... and who knows what... Of course you know this because you are a National DE Instructor with PCA ... I turned a 2:16.8 through traffic (started DFL ) many moons ago.... so if Mark is correct that 2:18-2:19 is a good time for club cars at Road America then that is pretty cool that a car I designed and built in 1999 would still be more than competitive today with all the new hardware out there.More so because I am considering rebuilding that same car I ran at Road America in 2000 and if I do , it would be nice to know that it has the potential to still be very competitive .... but I also know Mark is from my neck of the woods in California , not sure if his information is current hence the question and basic surprise. So I just checked the web site at PCA and one of the threads here in this forum and it appears that the time is more than competitive... other than a 962c it's the fastest time since turned by a PCA car until five years later in 2005 where there were a few 2:15's...... that is the kind of info that I like to have so I can determine what I am going to do as Road America is one of the tracks I really enjoyed and would like to go back to. Havn't done a lot of PCA racing since then so a little behind on the GT1 class

Didn't realize you were referring to 2000. I consider anything below 2:20 at RA to be fast, and 2:16 to be blazing fast.
I'm hoping to return to RA in 2007 with a bit more motor than the last time. Maybe you and also Mark can make it there for the 2007 Labor Day weekend race.

I would like to make it there in 2007.. that is such a fun and beautiful track . I know that after that event I went with someone else's in put on set up,(Bob Stehanowicz) did a shock change and I was a full three seconds faster at my home track (Thill) 3 mile road course which is huge! I felt that with proper gearing and the new set up I would see 2:13's at RA . I know Martin and Melanie Snow from POC ran 2:12 and 2:13's at RA in a similiar car . Of course you never know till you show.. I will definitley shoot for 2007 and hope some of the other guys like Mark , Mark and others will make the treck from the West Coast.
