Larry, just got the news that one of my partners cancelled his labor day plans so that frees me up to go to RA. I am going to find out today how I am getting there; I have three potential rides and will nail it down today. will you be there?

BTW;I was having a great practice on VERY old tires at Mosport running easy 1:27's and 28's at the TNT day with lots of potential for high 25's on new skins but I had what is called "avoidable contact" with a notoriously and infamously slow car in a practice on friday and thus had to sit out the weekend. no damage other than a ding to my fender flair. Rick will check out the suspension but should be up and ready for RA.

I am not certain yet. It is a really far tow at 8mpg, and I really haven't flown it past my wife yet. PM me with your ride options, and what might be available for me if I decide to go.

We'll be at the Osthoff as well, which is CLOSE and supposedly supernice, but have stayed in Sheboygan on the cheap. RA has a pretty good list of accomodations on their website.

If possible I would stay in Elkhart Lake. It's a cute little town and the focus of the off track activities. Ostoff is very nice but not cheap and you can crawl home from Siebkens. That's where we will be. Victorian Village is even handier but the name refers to the time period during which they last purchased new mattresses. I've heard their condos are much better but I haven't stayed in them. On the upside, they have a great lake side tiki bar and they are very close to the fun. The third choice in Elkhart Lake is Siebkens. It's the home of the famous Siebkens bar and has a good restaurant but the rooms are pretty rustic. All three of these hotels are within a block of each other. I've heard there are some great B&Bs but I'm sure they are full by now.

The next closest town is Plymouth. It has the normal chain hotels. AmericaInn, Plymouth Inn, Baymount Inn, etc.

If you like staying in great hotels Kohler is only about 15 miles away and has the beautiful old American Inn.

If it's your first time doing the RA club race make sure to do the race car caravan into Elkhart Lake on Saturday night. It follows the old race track and is one of the highlights of the year. People actually line the streets to see the cars come through. Then you drink a bunch of beer and get a police escort back to the track. Only in Wisconsin!

Larry,
Come on over. We need a few more fast C cars and you'll love the track.

OK Chicago guys. Now that I said all these nice things about your race why don't a few of you sign up for Brainerd this weekend! Or... maybe it's a little to intimidating for the Chi crowd?

Just kidding,
jim

Great write-up on the options available, Jim.

This former Chicagoan can't make it, but I thought Eurosport was bringing a semi full of cars.

I'm a little concerned about the pond for RA as well. A lot of the regular Turtles won't be racing, for a variety of reasons. But they will come up to watch for a day or two. It will be memorable as always, I just won't be able to give Eric sh*t about beating him for another straight year.

Good luck in 2.0 this weekend.

We always stay at the American Club in Kohler.

Leave your golf clubs at home or you'll never make it to the track.

Mike,
Are you offically a "former" Chicagoan now? Last time we talked I thought you were still splitting time. My son lives there now so I get to Chciago every couple of months.

I'm sure Eurosport is bringing a truck to Brainerd. They always do. Our numbers are down this year though. We could sure use another 15 or 20 cars. We're actually going to have 4 races. One enduro, 2 sprints and one of those backwards deals. It's a heck of a bargin.

See you at RA.
Jim
